CraigO’s White Italian

There are places so unassuming that you can only hope come out with a pair of Reeboks. Ok that didn’t make sense. But here’s the scene: Ugly brown brick plaza. Stuck between an applebee’s and behemoth sam’s club. White logo-type that screams Microsoft Word Art. That is CraigO’s, the one on 290 in southwest austin.

To my surprise, I ended up thoroughly enjoying my experience. it is super comfortable, great place to relax for a late afternoon.

At the counter i was recommended to try the White Itialian: alfredo chicken pizza. So that’s what I got. From the menu, this awesome pizza contains: Sicilian chicken with roasted garlic, alfredo sauce, mozzarella cheese, red onions & fresh cilantro. Yummers. And they have a old school punch card.

Seriously, the crust/dough here is what makes CraigO’s pizza good stuff. It’s not NY thin (which I favor more than all the rest), or thick like pizza hut. It’s just good stuff. Great ingredients, and the white italian i got was hearty, though a little dry. The alfredo taste was hard to pick up, and i expected the sauce to be noticeable. Despite that fact, there was a considerable amount of grease left on the box when I finished. Cheese was a little sparse, but that was cool with me. I might just ask for a little olive oil sprinkling everytime on their white pies…it really enhances the pizza experience!

They have good wi-fi here and plenty of tables…not too crowded…always serve pizza by the slice.

When the server checked up on me, I mentioned how i love the crust. She shares how they make all the dough there and use pizza stones in their ovens instead of conveyor belt. They also have a thin-crust, I may have to order both versions next time I come here.
