Sometimes wind can be so harsh on the face, you could swear you just had just been slapped 39 times with a cold fish. But still, Me and Kevin hit up East Side Pies.
Today was a damn cold day. You can tell from the photos that everything seemed stark and dreary. My body was shivering in my favorite white hoody, which proved insufficient in todays atrocious cold front. Keeping that hand steady…well, I just couldn’t.
I walk through the door and immediately stop. BUMP. Oh, there’s the counter. I see the ovens just behind. And, just turn my head slightly to the left and I see their glorious pies on display. Today was way overcast. That combined with flourescent lighting made the inside seem like a scene from the movie Saw.
I think there were just two tables outside. We sat at one of them for all of three minutes before we lost manliness and headed back to the car to finish up our meal. It could have been awkward, but then I think to myself, I’ve actually held hands with this guy before.
Great thing is that they serve pizza by the slice at all hours.
I have to say, ESP has the thinnest crust I’ve eaten this far, perhaps in all of Austin. It’s not my thing, but they’re pizza is still great and they’re repertoire of toppings is hard to beat. Just check out the specialty pies they have! The garlic knots were excellent. See the photo as we ate them in the car.
Overall, I’m glad there’s a local pizzeria on the east side.
